  • Process Monthly Payment: FedLoan is responsible for managing your loan by helping you monitor and collect payments. You can also make additional payment by instructing FedLoan to apply extra payments to your remaining balance. You can instruct FedLoan via mail, online or by phone. Or else it will add the extra amount to the next month’s payment instead.
  • Loan forgiveness: Since FedLoan manages Public Service Loan Forgiveness applications and other employment certifications forms. Students and any other public service workers can see if they qualify for loan discharge, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) and other service worker’s benefits. You can also submit PSLF forms online and also track its progress.
  • Apply for Forbearance and Deferment: you can apply for deferment and forbearance and if you qualify, FedLoan can you pause payment or even reduce amount of payment. However, you when you are on deferment or forbearance, your interest will continue to increase.
  • Register for online access: you can sign up for an online access to your account on FedLoan. Once you do this, you will be able to view your monthly billing statement, manage your payment online, update your account information, and get tax forms and lots more.
  • Enroll in Autopay: You can Sign up for Auto pay feature on FedLoan as a way of making your payment easier and reducing stress. This will make you avoid late payment such that FedLoan will automatically deduct your payments from your bank account. Signing for this will reduce your interest by 0.25%.
  • Sign up for income-driven repayment: You can request income-driven repayment, which limits your student loan payments to a percentage of your income, by completing a paper form with FedLoan. (You can apply online on studentaid.gov and then recertify your income each year online as well.)

How to Make FedLoan Servicing Payments – Auto Pay

Auto Pay which is sometimes regarded as Direct Debit is the easiest way for making payments to FedLoan. When you sign up to make payments by Auto Pay or Direct Debit, your payment will be electronically deducted from your bank account. With this mode of payment, you are likely to qualify for a 0.25% interest rate reduction on your loan.

Other mode of payment is by using the FedLoan’s mobile app, by mail, third-party bill-pay service, online payment or by phone.

What Can I Do If My loan is Transferred from FedLoan?

Since FedLoan servicing will be transferring the loans of all borrowers to other loan servicers after December, 2022 when the contract ends. It is important you do the following to avoid errors on your account before and after migration.  

  • Login to your online account and download your payment history or ask your servicer to mail you a copy.
  • Update your contact information with your most recent address, phone number, and email address.

However, you will get a notification from your new loan servicer immediately the transfer happens. The new loan servicer will also provide you with information on how to access your transferred account and other things you need in terms of payments.
